Canberra Plaza was built by the Housing and Development Board, the government agency in charge of public housing development in Singapore. The mall is a New Generation Neighborhood Centre. After the completion of Pioneer Mall and Punggol Plaza in 2004, the government agency stopped building for a while until Canberra Plaza was constructed 10 years after the two former malls. Canberra Plaza provides a complete work-life balance environment for residents and signifies Singapore’s public housing for the future. The mall is easily accessible to the public as it is conveniently connected to the Canberra MRT Station. While Sembawang residents can easily reach the mall through link bridges at their HDB Precincts.

Located in the northern part of Sembawang, Canberra Plaza is part of a mixed use transit oriented development. This new retail complex offers 3 floors and 1 basement level. Inlaid with pockets of gardens, trails and water play parks that offer intimate spaces for community interaction, Canberra Plaza is truly an exciting addition to the neighborhood with its array of exciting activities. Canberra Plaza can accommodate up to 70 commercial outlets but as of the moment only around 39 outlets including Daiso, A&W, Starbucks have confirmed lease a space.

Some of the tenants located in its basement level are: Daiso Japan, NTUC Fairprice, Home Stop, Paul’s Barbershop, Wan Xiang TCM, Swee Heng 1989 Classic, Sedap Goreng, 365 Fruit Juice, and Gerill Bab. Level 1 is mostly a wide range of F&B options such as Mcdonalds, Breadtalk, Starbucks, KFC, and Yifang Taiwan Fruit Tea. Level 2 tenants are: Xtreme Hair Salon, D’Pixies Nails, Xpress Massage, Unusual Express, and Viva Medical to name a few. And lastly, some of the tenants on level 3 are: The Ballet School, Shichida, Gymmboxx, The Eton Academy, and Beijing Language School.

Besides being a heartland mall, Canberra Plaza is set to boast communal living spaces as well.
